A delicious blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise and Cinsault, the wine is aged 13 months in 20% new French oak and only 443 cases were produced.
The fruit comes from a combination of special vineyards. These include the Fortunati Vineyard in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley, the Bovino Vineyard in the El Pomar District of Paso Robles as well as the Terra Bella Vineyard at 1,800 feet of elevation in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, and finally the high elevation and cool coastal climate of the organically farmed Gibson Ranch Vineyards in Mendocino.

Inspired by the muscular red blends from France’s Rhone Valley, The Odyssey is made using intense mountain-grown fruit.
With a berry fruit-driven profile laced with leather and cedar notes, this wine was made to drink now or within five years of the vintage. Pair with your red meat of choice.
Miner is a dynamic family-owned winery tucked along the eastern hills of the Oakville appellation in the heart of Napa Valley. Founded in 1998 by Dave and Emily Miner, Miner Family Winery crafts reserve-style wines by sourcing fruit from Napa Valley and other specially selected California vineyards.
Our winemaking team uses a combination of old world winemaking techniques and modern technology to make wines that reflect the unique characteristics of individual vineyards or “terroir” where specific varietals grow best. This fusion of superb vineyard sites and thoughtful winemaking allows Miner to deliver elegant, expressive wines.

And now on to our review:
The 2021 Miner The Odyssey opens with a very pleasing, deep aroma of dark fruit that’s a bit ripe, spice, and some almost garrigue-like dried herb components. It’s a nice start.
This wine needs a lot of air to fully open – like several hours – but once it does, it harmonizes quite nicely! It offers similar flavors to the nose wrapped up in a dynamic, smooth mouthfeel and just keeps gaining layers as it breathes.
It ends dry and juicy on the very long and lingering finish and was slightly better on day 2 where it gained a bit more cohesiveness and was even longer on the finish. This is very nice! If you’re drinking it in the short term just be sure to plan ahead to give it plenty of time to breathe.
