The wine received 98 points at the 2022 Sunset International Wine Competition, a Gold medal at the 2022 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and a Double Gold and 95 points from the 2024 Sonoma International Film Festival wine competition. We put it at the high end of our 9 Taste Rating at 92-93 points although I could see that score going up a point or two after a few years in the cellar.

Normally retailing for $62, today we’ve slashed that price dramatically but be aware that our inventory is limited so the sell-out potential is high…

For the next two days you can get 3 bottles of the 2019 Muscardini Tesoro Proprietary Red for $XX.95 ($XX.XX/bottle). That’s a discount of XX%, saving you over $XX a bottle.

2019 Muscardini Tesoro Proprietary Red Blend

From the winery:

2019 Muscardini Tesoro Proprietary Red Blend

Tesoro (meaning Treasure) is a proprietary blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.

Led by its striking dark crimson hue, this Super Tuscan style wine opens with aromas of ripe berries and black fruits, interwoven with hints of vanilla, caramel, raw tobacco, leather, clove, blood orange peel, and roasted walnuts. On the palate, the rich and generous flavors of briary blackberry, dark cherry, ripe plum, cassis, and red pear are enhanced with nuances of wild sage, cinnamon, black pepper, dark chocolate, and a kiss of fine oak. As the wine opens in the glass, the smooth velvety texture is balanced with bright acidity, supple tannins, and firm structure. The result is a stylish proprietary blend that is robust, elegant, and showy in its youth, and strengthened by layers of complexity, natural richness, and backbone that will allow the personality of the wine to expand in the cellar.

To honor his family heritage of drinking fine red wines in Italy, Michael Muscardini uses the revered Italian varietal Sangiovese as the core grape in his proprietary red blend, Tesoro (“Treasure” in Italian). To add a personalized touch and a California twist to the finished wine: the other half of the blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, two noble red grape varieties from France, which perform extremely well in the rocky soils and warm climate conditions in Sonoma Valley. This commitment to quality and attention to detail is once again showcased in this outstanding vintage.

And now on to our review:

The 2019 Muscardini Tesoro Proprietary Red Blend opens with a very pleasing, very harmonious aroma of black cherry, blackberry, baking spice, vanilla, leather and chocolate.

It only takes one sip to know that is a really lovely blend. Smooth, rich and savory with great depth and complexity, I love it and it gets even better with air. Delicious now, this wine also has plenty of aging potential.

It ends dry and long and was even slightly better on day 2.

Cheers,
Jon

Always a Winner

The 2019 Muscardini Tesoro Proprietary Red Blend does not disappoint! It has complex flavors that sing and which lingers in the mouth for a nice long while. This will be a repeat purchase for me.

Tesoro 12 Feb 2026

Smell:

Cork- smelled like mixed berry compote.

Wine: Cherry, tomato, herbs, and baking spices

Taste:

Initial- Black cherry

Mid- black berry and black raspberry

Finish- long finish that starts with a hint of tomato which leads to cinnamon dust and eventually a light chilli pepper sizzle.

I really liked this wine.

Simply amazing

My wife and I became fine line lover about 35 years ago and were fortunate enough to have purchased large quantities of California’s 1997 vintage. This wine is as close to those ‘97 vintage wines in aroma, complexity, mouth feel, taste and aftertaste. A great wine you will want to sip and roll around in your mouth as the esters volitize . Wish we’d bought more, lots more!

Fantastic as always!
