From the bottle:
Vale do Bomfim is made from grapes grown in vineyards that traditionally supply the House of Dow. The Symington family has produced wine for five generations, making the same journey from Porto to their estates in the Douro Valley for over a century. This wine has an elegant structure with assertive spice aromas and delicious wild berry flavours. It is ready for drinking now but will mature in bottle for a few years.

The 2020 Vale do Bomfim Douro Red opens with an attractive and very approachable aroma full of ripe red fruit with touches of black pepper, spice and a hint of vanilla.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth mouthfeel with a bit more dark berry fruit in the mouth but otherwise similar flavors to the nose. It also has good structure and acidity. This is a fresh and easy wine without a bunch of residual sugar, which we appreciate.
It ends dry and with good length and was similar on day 2.
