The 2019 Vento di Mare Nero d’Avola begins with the signature Nero d’Avola aroma of wild berry and cherry along with a touch of peppery spice. It’s a pleasing start.
The wine tastes soft, smooth, balanced and juicy with similar flavors to the nose that are more tart in the mouth. Like the Venti di Mare Nerello Mascalese we also reviewed, it is perhaps a bit one dimensional but still tasty.
It ends soft, dry and moderately long with a touch of spice.
It gets a similar rating, but I think I liked this one a bit better than the Nerello Mascalese. It also went great with my wife’s homemade lasagna. Cheers!
