We’re huge fans of Rhone varietals like Grenache so we were super excited to offer this wine the first time several months ago. After spending more time with it and hearing how much the buyers from that first deal enjoyed it, we were even more excited to find the winery still had some left!
This absolutely delicious 100% Grenache is a single vineyard bottling from the El Pomar District in the Paso Robles AVA and was aged 18 months in French oak.
Wine Enthusiast is a fan as well, giving this wine 91 points. I might go even a bit higher than that now that this bottle has some age on it and the wine has evolved even more.
Grenache (or Garnacha in Spain) is, in our opinion, a variety that everyone should explore. Outside of places like Chateauneuf-du-Pape, it is not well recognized, which is a pity but also a boon to Reverse Wine Snobs looking for extreme value. And talk about extreme value, today’s deal has got it!

Grown in the rolling hills of Paso Robles, our Grenache has inviting aromas of lavender and clove spice with lush flavors of boysenberry compote and red cherries, with a soft, rounded finish.

The 2016 Vigo Cellars Grenache opens with wonderful aromas of black cherry, cranberry, licorice, mint and lots of other wonderful herbal and spice notes. I absolutely love it!
Taking a sip reveals a medium-bodied wine with soft tannins that is full of flavors similar to the nose plus a bit of well-integrated, oaky spice. Delicious and easy to drink, this one is good right out of the bottle but after a couple of hours of air it's really singing.
It ends with a dry, long, lovely finish. Last chance for this one, don't miss it!
