Revisiting a highly quaffable find from Aldi, the Villanella Pinot Grigio.
Pinot Grigio from Valdadige, Italy which covers the Trentino-Alto Adige area as well as into Veneto. It’s a great spot for Pinot Grigio.
The Villanella Pinot Grigio is available exclusively at Aldi and sells for $9.99. It is imported by Villanella Wines.
From the bottle:
This premium Pinot Grigio is sourced from the Valdadige area of Italy in the Tre-Venezie growing region. The high elevation micro-climate produces the best Pinot Grigio grapes in Italy. This dry, medium-bodied Pinot Grigio displays floral aromas and flavors of pear and golden delicious apple with bright acidity and a touch of mineral on the finish. Enjoy with fish, chicken, pork, pasta with cream sauce, mild cheeses, or simply on its own. Best when served chilled.
12.5% Alcohol
The 2021 Villanella Pinot Grigio begins with a pleasing aroma of peaches, melons, a little bit of stony minerality and a touch of petrol.
Taking a sip reveals a delicious and highly quaffable light-bodied wine which features lots of acidity and a smooth, lively mouthfeel. It’s fairly straight forward stuff but done quite well and just like the last time we reviewed it, quite satisfying.
You’ll also find lots of green apple, more melon and peach flavors with the fruit turning a touch tropical on the dry, fresh and satisfying finish.
