We haven't always been big fans of Beaujolais, but the 90 Plus Cellars Lot 158 is definitely the good stuff!
Gamay from the villages of La Chapelle de Guinchay and Romaneche-Thorins in the northern part of Beaujolais, France. (Most inexpensive Beaujolais, by contrast, comes from the south.)
The 90 Plus Cellars Lot 158 Beaujolais has an SRP of $12.49 but is available for as low as $10.
This flirtatiously fruity French beauty is made from the Gamay grape grown on the granite hillsides in the southern reaches of Burgundy. Pour a glass and you'll encounter a smoothly textured red wine with flavors of fresh strawberries, blueberries and hints of wildflowers. It's a vivacious red that's food friendly and pairs well with everything from beef stew to butternut squash linguine with crispy sage.
12.5% Alcohol
Beaujolais, or more specifically, the Gamay grape has admittedly not been our favorite varietal of wine in the past but a lot of that comes from the hype around Beajolais Nouveau, which as a wine leaves much to be desired. Thankfully 90 Plus Cellars didn't jump on that bandwagon but instead went right for the good stuff.
The 2017 90 Plus Cellars Lot 158 Beaujolais begins with a very pleasant and classic Beaujolais aroma full of fresh berry fruit, grapes and plenty of floral notes. In the mouth you'll find lots of tart, juicy fruit in this smooth, light-bodied, fresh and easy to drink wine. Like most Beaujolais, it goes great with many types of food, especially all those Thanksgiving flavors. It ends with a juicy, lip-smacking finish.
Highly recommended, this one easily gets a spot on our list of The Best Thanksgiving Wines!
