The non-vintage Aimery 1531 Cremant de Limoux Brut is 55% Chardonnay, 35% Chenin Blanc and 10% Mauzac from Crémant de Limoux, Languedoc-Roussillon, France. The wine has 7 g/L of residual sugar.

1531 - The first sparkling wine. It was in 1531, one century before Dom Pérignon, that wines from Limoux stepped onto the world stage thanks to Benedictine nuns from the St Hilaire Abbey, a neighboring village, who created the first sparkling wine in the world: La Blanquette de Limoux.

The Aimery 1531 Cremant de Limoux Brut begins with a very pleasing aroma of white peach, pear, a little fresh baked bread and a touch of a floral note.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be fresh, crisp and loaded with fine bubbles. This is quite the palate cleanser! You can definitely taste the much higher proportions of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc in this one compared to the Blanquette de Limoux we previously offered. In the mouth it features similar flavors to the nose with a little lemon, lime and other citrus plus melon and a hint of honey.
It ends crisp, dry and even a bit savory on the long finish. Tasty stuff!
