The Epicuro Primitivo from Femar Vini is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and sells for just $5.99. It is imported by D'Aquino Italian Importing Company.
Made from selected grapes in the ancient Apulia Region (the heel of Italy), this Primitivo is among the best expression of the passion and "know how" of the winemaking culture in Southern Italy. Warm in the mouth, well structured, it pairs well with any kind of meat and roasts. A taste of history that takes you straight to the future...Cent'Anni!!!!

The 2019 Epicuro Primitivo begins with an aromatic nose full of sour cherry and berry flavors, licorice and vanilla plus some intriguing spice notes. Tasting the wine shows lots of sweet and sour cherry fruit wrapped up in a soft mouthfeel. It ends a bit grippy and with a fairly long finish for such a low price. Pair it with Italian meat sauces.
This is another simple but tasty wine and a great find at only $6. And while Primitivo is the same grape as Zinfandel, this is a distinctly Italian tasting wine versus what you typically find in California Zinfandel.
This is one of several Epicuro wines available at TJ's including the Epicuro Nero d'Avola and the Epicuro Aglianico. And while none of these score very high on our Taste rating, they don't have to thanks to their extremely low price!
