Another good pizza wine from Trader Joe's for just $5.99, the Epicuro Aglianico Puglia IGP.
Aglianico from Apulia, Italy. The wine is fermented and matured in stainless steel and has 14 g/L of residual sugar.
The Epicuro Aglianico from Femar Vini is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and sells for just $5.99. It is imported by D'Aquino Italian Importing Company.
This red wine shows intense blackberry and cherry notes harmoniously exalted by a light spicy background. Smooth and velvety with a firm backbone. Perfect at 18° with red meat, ham, and mature cheeses.
13% Alcohol
Harmoniously exalted (as the label says)? I don't know about that but this one works for the price.
The 2019 Epicuro Aglianico begins with a pleasing aroma of cherry, licorice, a little spice and a bit of apple.
Taking a sip reveals lots of dark berry fruit and spice in this well put together wine, especially at this low price. Smooth and easy to drink some nice spice notes lead into the dry, medium-long finish.
This is one of several Epicuro wines available at TJ's including the Epicuro Nero d'Avola and the Epicuro Primitivo. And while none of these score very high on our Taste rating, they don't have to thanks to their extremely low price!
