To us, Crios Malbec stands for the courage and hard work that were needed to tackle seemingly insurmountable challenges and elevate a forgotten varietal to be world-class status.
Crios Malbec is sourced from the highest Andean vineyards, both in elevation (avg. 3,700 ft) and quality, and is a fresh, pure expression, with aromas of violets, cherries, mocha and spice. Juicy tannins and balanced acidity complement perfectly ripe red fruit flavors, while a subtle hint of oak adds complexity.

Black cherry, blackberry, spice and violets along with a little graphite and leather all combine quite nicely to make a really attractive aroma on the 2021 Crios Malbec.
Taking a sip reveals a classic, tasty Malbec full of dark fruit flavors with really well integrated oak, good density and a soft and smooth mouthfeel. I tasted this back-to-back with a bunch of other $10-$12 examples of Malbec and hallelujah, this is dry! It seems like the residual sugar has been creeping up on a lot of these inexpensive Malbecs but not on this one.
It ends dry, quite long and with lots of lingering dark juicy fruit, spice and a touch of vanilla on the grippy finish. It was also just as good day 2. This is great stuff for $10.
