Gliss Cellars Syrah - Solid $7 Syrah

Syrah from Mendocino County, California.

Sample submitted for review. This wine is a private label from DNA Vineyards that is available exclusively at Grocery Outlet for just $6.99. Unfortunately there’s no info available on how the wine was made or aged.

From the bottle:

Cellared and Bottled by DNA Vineyards
14.5% Alcohol

The 2016 Gliss Cellars Syrah begins with lots of ripe, dark fruit and a little black pepper. It’s a tad meaty just as you would expect with Syrah and it’s quite pleasing.

Taking a sip of the wine reveals lots of tasty dark berry fruit and nice touches of spice with cola and licorice throughout. This is a solid Syrah for just $7.

Hints of vanilla lead into the dry, surprisingly long finish. It’s not extremely complex but it’s a solid example of the variety at this extremely low price.
