Thanks to it's $4.99 price tag, the Trader Joe's Espiral Vinho Verde Rosé just squeaks by with a Recommended Buy rating.
Rosé from Vinho Verde, Portugal.
While Vinho Verde is most commonly associated with white wines, they also produce some darn good rosé!
The Espiral Vinho Verde Rosé is available for $4.99 exclusively at Trader Joe's. It is imported by Evaton, Inc.
We've long been fans of the white Espiral Vinho Verde at Trader Joe's so our expectations for this wine were rather high going in. Let's see if it can live up to them.
A refreshing, light, fruity Rosé wine. Espiral Rose is delicious on its own as an aperitif or with all fish dishes, shellfish, white meats and salads.

The non-vintage Espiral Vinho Verde Rosé opens with aromas of strawberry and watermelon jello, some citrus notes and fruit punch. My expectations were not high at this point but luckily it tastes better than it smells.
Just slightly effervescent in the mouth, it could definitely use a few more bubbles. It's sweet but not overwhelmingly so and I'm guessing that is just what the buyers of this wine want. The fruit turns a bit more tart when tasting along with continued citrus notes, strawberry and watermelon.
It finishes a bit short, but it would certainly be refreshing on a hot day.
