A solid Tempranillo for $7 from Trader Joe's, the Finca Sobreno Pago Lencia Toro Reserva.
100% Tempranillo from Toro, Spain.
While Trader Joe's doesn't give much info on the wine, we know from the Toro region requirements that in order to use the word "Reserva", the wine must be a minimum of three calendar years old with at least 12 months in oak.
This wine is available for $6.99 exclusively at Trader Joe's. It is imported by Latitude Wines.
Pago Lencia Reserva 2014 Toro is a rich, ruby-colored wine. It tastes of red and black fruits, licorice and dark chocolate. This wine is elegant and round with soft, smooth tannins. Serve with roasted and grilled meats.
14.5% Alcohol
The 2014 Pago Lencia Toro Reserva opens with lots of dark fruit plus some dusty spice, cedar, licorice and just a touch of cocoa. It has just enough going on to keep things interesting.
The wine tastes smooth and a bit tannic with more dark fruit and just a touch of spice. It is a bit thin perhaps but still definitely worth the low price. And it's still tasting quite young believe it or not.
It ends dry and grippy with decent length. This is a solid Tempranillo right here.
