High altitude, single vineyard Malbec at a can't be beat Costco price, the Finca Decero Remolinos Vineyard Malbec.
Single vineyard Malbec grown at 3,500 feet of elevation in Agrelo, Mendoza, Argentina. 90% of the wine was aged in French oak barrels (30% new) for 14 months. The remaining 10% of the wine was aged in stainless steel tanks. It is also vegan friendly.
The Finca Decero Malbec has an SRP of $22 but we found this example at Costco for just $11.99, a great price considering it has an average price of $18 elsewhere. It is imported by Vintus.
Born of a bare patch of land in the foothills of the Andes, true to the meaning of 'Decero', our wines, like our estate, have been handcrafted 'from scratch'.
Remolinos Vineyard is located at 3500 feet in the Mendoza sub-appellation of Agrelo. Our initial exploration of the rich tapestry of soils enabled us to plant the variety most suited to each soil profile. Malbec planted on our coarse, high mountain soils yields an especially elegant expression with elevated aromatics. Ever humbled by our unique environment, our farming approach is sensitive, hands-on and sustainable. Our vineyard takes its name from the 'Remolinos' -- little whirlwinds, whose airflow protects our vines from spring frosts and keeps the grapes in perfect condition.
Handpicked March 21st - April 21st 2017, this wine has lifted violet aromas, pure red fruit flavors and a silky profile. Maturation for 14 months in French oak barrels results in supple tannins. Decero Malbec is a handcrafted expression of its unique site of origin.

The 2017 Finca Decero Remolinos Vineyard Malbec opens with a very pleasing and harmonious aroma of dark fruit, cola, spice and a little black pepper.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, rich and tasty wine with all the same flavors from the nose making an appearance in the mouth. With good balance, this is quite easy to drink.
It ends dry, quite long and savory with a lovely lasting finish of oaky spice.
