Pares Balta Mas Petit - Fresh and Easy

By: Jon Thorsen Published: September 12, 2021 Last Updated: January 23, 2023

A simply pleasing organic and vegan red blend from Penedes, Spain, the Pares Balta Mas Petit.

Pares Balta Mas Petit - Fresh and Easy

A blend of 53% Garnacha and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon all organically grown from Penedes, Catalonia, Spain. The wine was aged in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year Allier French oak barrels for 7 months and has 4.2 g/L of residual sugar. It is also vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The wine is available for as low as $12. It is imported by USA Wine Imports.

    From the bottle:

Pares Balta is a family owned winery since 1790. We practice organic and biodynamic farming in a unique range of soils, climates and varieties, in vineyards located in a natural park with more than 2000 years cultivation history. The two winemakers are Marta and Maria Elena, sisters in law, are creating the wines with great character using ancestral agriculture and winemaking technique.

Produced and Bottled by Cavas Pares Balta
    14.5% Alcohol

The simple but pleasing 2017 Pares Balta Mas Petit opens with a nose of soft red berry fruit and a little vanilla.

Tasting reveals a fresh and easy wine that is quite easy to drink. It features a smooth mouthfeel and a fruity character with some spice notes added in for good measure.

It ends dry and soft with decent length. Again it's quite simple but also quite pleasing.
