    Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon - Seriously Easy

By: Jon Thorsen Published: August 8, 2018 Last Updated: May 28, 2021

    A serious wine that's still an easy-drinker, the Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon - Seriously Easy

71% Shiraz and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in Wrattonbully, Padthaway, McLaren Vale, Upper Adelaide and Barossa Valley, South Australia. The wine was aged for 12 months in a combination of new French (4%) and American (2%) oak as well as seasoned French (58%) and American (36%) oak.

Sample submitted for review. The Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon has an SRP of $25 and is available for as low as $15. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Imported by TWE Imports.

    From the bottle:

Penfolds constant pursuit of excellence is underpinned by time-honoured values established by the legendary Max Schubert, Penfolds chief winemaker from 1948-1975.

A classic Australian expression, balanced and bright with a modern twist. This wine delivers generosity of fruit from Shiraz together with solid Cabernet Sauvignon structure. Max's Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon displays the Penfolds 'stamp' inspired by Max Schubert, a winemaking legend in Penfolds history.

    14.5% Alcohol

The 2015 Penfolds Max's Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon begins with a very pleasant aroma full of dark berries plus well-integrated spice, cedar and vanilla. In the mouth this is one smooooth wine with a wonderful, almost buttery mouthfeel. You'll also find plenty of sweet fruit, good acidity and soft tannins. Spice notes come out mid-palate and lead into the long, dry finish that features more sweet fruit notes, vanilla, licorice and touches of chocolate. Downright delicious, this is a serious wine that is still an easy-drinker.
