Post Scriptum de Chryseia – P.S. It’s Delicious

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: October 14, 2020

Fantastic from the first sip, the Prats & Symington Post Scriptum de Chryseia from the Douro.

Post Scriptum de Chryseia - P.S. It's Delicious

51% Touriga Franca and 49% Touriga Nacional from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta de Perdiz in Cima Corgo, Douro, Portugal. The wine is aged for 12 months in 400L neutral French oak barrels and has just 0.8 g/L of residual sugar.

Sample submitted for review. The Post Scriptum de Chryseia has an SRP of $27 but can be found for as low as $19.99. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Imported by Premium Port Wines.

From the winery:

Post Scriptum is a partner wine to Chryseia, drawn from the same vineyards. Its profile is similar, with expressive, fresh and concentrated fruit married to exquisite balance and elegance. Lighter oaked, it is ready to enjoy at a younger age.

The grapes are sorted by hand before undergoing destemming and an automated berry selection process. They are then gently crushed before being transferred to the fermentation vats where they are inoculated with a specially selected yeast culture and fermented at 25C. During fermentation, the wines are gently macerated in order to produce an earlier drinking wine but with the ability to mature in bottle.

14.5% Alcohol

The 2018 Prats & Symington Post Scriptum de Chryseia opens with an excellent aroma of blackberry, vanilla, cedar, licorice and spice. Fantastic from the first silky smooth sip, this is a rich and delicious wine full of deep wild berry fruit flavors, more licorice and excellently integrated spice. It ends dry and long with fine grippy tannins, lots of lingering spice notes and maybe even a bit of chalkiness. Fabulous!

Ready to buy? Check your local retailers.
