The Renzo Masi 2018 Chianti is nearly all Sangiovese, with a 5% dash of Colorino. As the name suggests, Colorino adds color. But, with its thick skin, says Paolo Masi, it also "adds polyphenolic structure. So, the addition of Colorino is extremely important, in my opinion." Grapes undergo a classic red wine vinification, followed by a 10-day maceration to extract the right balance of fruit and color.
The result is an aromatic, smooth, medium-bodied wine, filled with red fruit and plums on the palate. And true to Paolo Masi's philosophy, the Renzo Masi Chianti DOCG can be enjoyed now or saved for later. Finally, as with all Renzo Masi wines, the price/value relationship is unbeatable.13% Alcohol
The 2018 Renzo Masi Chianti Rufina begins with pleasing aromas of red and black cherry, raspberry, plum and touches of balsamic. The wine tastes smooth, savory and quite good. It has similar flavors to the nose but they are a bit more sour in the mouth. A nice burst of spice leads into the dry, long finish. This is a simple but very good Chianti, get some!
