The grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir were farmed organically by famed grower Steve McIntyre of McIntyre Vineyards. Comprised of Dijon clones 115, 667 and Pommard Clone 4 the wine spent 18 months in 2-year-old French oak (Francois Frerre burgundy barrels). It is also vegan friendly.

The color of this Burgundian inspired fine Pinot Noir is medium garnet and aged in 2 year old French Oak barrels for 18 months on its natural lees with no racking.The aromas of this wine are of ripe blackcherry with some leather and earth notes in the backdrop. The ripe cherry is sappy and rich on the palate and the wine finishes with an elegant silky texture best described as supple and combines well with the strawberry, raspberry coulis and a suggestion of spicy clove and cinnamon.
Since 1997 Vinum Cellars has been committed to producing quality wines from single vineyards in premium coastal and cool climate growing areas within California. Today our home is in restored 1880 farmhouse which is depicted on the front label of this bottle.

The 2019 Vinum Cellars Monterey Pinot Noir begins with quite an enticing aroma of cherry vanilla cola and strawberry plus a little mint, licorice and earth.
Tasting the wine reveals lots of juicy tart fruit (strawberry, raspberry, cherry, cranberry) tinged with oaky spice and licorice plus a nice earthy streak underneath. With a smooth and even a bit silky mouthfeel this is just a really solid, tasty Pinot Noir at an incredible price.
It ends dry and quite long with a slightly grippy, really delicious finish. Well-made and extremely drinkable, this is exactly the type of bottle we like to have on hand at all times. And to get it at less than $13 a bottle is quite a feat!
