The 2017 Vinum Cellars Monterey Pinot Noir is 100% Pinot Noir (Dijon clones 115, 667 and Pommard Clone 4). The grapes are farmed organically although not certified as such. The wine spends 18 months in 2 year-old Francois Frerre burgundy barrels and is vegan friendly.

The 2017 Vinum Cellars Monterey Pinot Noir begins with quite an enticing aroma of cherry vanilla cola and strawberry plus a little mint, licorice and earth.

Tasting the wine reveals lots of juicy tart fruit (strawberry, raspberry, cherry, cranberry) tinged with oaky spice and licorice with a nice earthy streak underneath. With a smooth and even a bit silky mouthfeel this is just a really solid, tasty Pinot Noir at an incredible price.

It ends dry and quite long with a slightly grippy, really delicious finish. Well-made and extremely drinkable, this is exactly the type of bottle we like to have on hand at all times. And to get it at less than $12 a bottle is quite a feat!
