Bulk Buy!

100% Moscato from California.

SRP of $8 and available for as low as $5. Sample received courtesy Benson Marketing for review purposes.

From the bottle:

“Redtree Moscato is the perfect wine to enjoy as an after dinner refreshment or with a variety of desserts – from chocolate dishes to rich layer cakes and from fresh fruit dishes to cheesecake. Our tried-and-true winemaking techniques produce wines of amazing consistency, fruit-forward, varietally expressive and food-friendly.

10.6% Alcohol”

Moscato is huge right now, in fact, it’s the third most popular white wine in the U.S. after recently passing Sauvignon Blanc (and already passing Riesling) and is the 6th most popular wine overall. Among white wines, only Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are more popular. Moscato’s rise in popularity the last few years has been an amazing and it’s easy to see why — low prices and a high level of sweetness make this a very approachable wine for just about all consumers, even people who aren’t regular wine drinkers. Not only that, but there’s quite a bit of good Moscato out there. And today’s wine is very good indeed.

The 2010 Cecchetti Wine Company Redtree Moscato begins with lots of syrupy peach aromas plus a little citrus zest. The wine has good acidity and tastes very sweet with just a little effervescence that is quite nice. Tasty peach, honey and vanilla are the primary flavors along with the same citrus zest notes found in the bouquet. It ends with a pleasant finish that has just a hint of minerality. A basic but delicious dessert wine that’s not just for dessert. Add to that a fabulous price and a few bubbles to add some intrigue and you have a winner. Reminds me of the Frisk Prickly (which also received a bulk buy rating) but this one is just a little sweeter. Bulk Buy!
