Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz - Lives Up To Its Name

By: Jon Thorsen Published: February 11, 2013 Last Updated: March 4, 2021

    2011-Jam-Jar-Sweet-Shiraz
A nice pick for white wine drinkers looking to explore red wine.

100% Shiraz from Western Cape, South Africa.

Sample submitted for review. SRP of $12 and available for as low as $8.

    From the bottle:

    "Sweet perfection...simple, pure, and honest.

Packed with juicy berry flavors and hints of dark chocolate, Jam Jar makes a versatile partner for everything from cheeseburgers to chocolate pudding. Best served slightly chilled, it offers luscious fruity goodness in every sip!

    13.0% Alcohol"

The 2011 Jam Jar Sweet Shiraz begins with subdued berry and honey aromas. Tasting the wine reveals strawberry Jolly Ranchers, jammy berry flavors and honey with a hint of spice. It's a sweet wine, but smooth and balanced. It ends with good length and the sweetness continues with a bit of dark chocolate. This is definitely not your typical Shiraz, but that's not a bad thing. Be sure to serve it slightly chilled for the best experience.
