From the winery:
"Tantalizing blueberry, cassis, leather and pine bark aromatics swirl in the glass. Deep fruit flavors of cherry and strawberry blend with notes of licorice on the palate. Dusty, firm tannins support lingering fruit on the long finish.
13.2% Alcohol"
The 2010 Magnificent Wine Company House Red Wine begins with lots of blackberry, a little licorice and a good portion of menthol. It smells a bit like a fruit bomb but tasting the wine reveals this is not the case. The blackberry flavors definitely continue along with the licorice from the nose but you'll also find some cola notes. It's a bit astringent but in a way that makes it endearing in that it tastes like a real wine, not something that has been over-manufactured to be artificially smooth. It does need a bit of air to open up, but it should be quite a good food wine which is what you want in your house red. It ends dry with good length and nice chewy tannins. Excellent!
