From the bottle:
“Our Syrah is sourced from select sites in the world class vineyards of the Columbia Valley. With new world fruit intensity in an elegant old world style, this Syrah bursts with ripe berry aromas. Oak aging for a minimum of 14 months lends finesse to the vanilla and brown sugar spice notes.

A quick break today from our Warming Winter Reds series to bring you this delightful bottle from Washington State. The 2012 Chateau Ste Michelle Columbia Valley Syrah begins with a very pleasant and complex aroma of plum, blackberry, cranberry, coffee, mint, leather and a little smoked meat and vanilla. Tasting reveals a super savory wine that is chock-full of plum, black cherry, cranberry and even a little mulberry and boysenberry fruit with nice touches of smoky bacon, spice and dried herb notes. On the pleasing finish lots of sweet dark berry fruit lingers for a very long time. Highly Recommended!
