From the bottle:

“‘Funk is fun, but it’s also a state of mind’ – George Clinton

Funk Zone is a Syrah and Viognier blend inspired by the great wines of the Northern Rhone Valley of France. Its beautiful Syrah gets a little lift from the aromatic and funky Viognier, creating a unique expression.

14.5% Alcohol”

The 2012 Funk Zone Syrah-Viognier begins with an excellent mix of aromas: black cherry, nice herbal notes, a little leather, cedar and a touch of mint. The addition of the Viognier helps give this wine a very aromatic bouquet, so much so you may have a hard time pulling your nose out of the glass. When you do finally take a sip, a smooth and wonderfully tasty wine is waiting with black cherry and blackberry flavors that go deep. You’ll also find some excellent spice with a touch of citrus and flowers. Interestingly the floral notes seem to come out more in the mouth than they do in the nose, especially on the long, dry finish. A really delightful wine, but it does needs a bit of air to open up so plan accordingly.
