The Specially Selected Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is available exclusively at Aldi and sells for $9.99. It is imported by Mack & Schuhle Inc.
We’ve been reviewing the new Specially Selected wines at Aldi and while many of them are brand new bottlings, it also appears that many of them are simply the old “Exquisite Collection” wines re-branded.
Such is the case with today’s wine, which has virtually identical information on the label (including the “Single Estate” designation) as the old Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc. That’s certainly not a bad thing, however, as that wine has been one of the more reliably good bottlings over the last few years. Let’s check out the 2023.

This Single Estate Sauvignon Blanc is made from selected grapes grown in the rich alluvial soils of New Zealand’s famous Marlborough region. Enjoy this crisp, fresh and fruity white with a well-balanced acidity. Best served chilled.

The 2023 Specially Selected Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc begins with a very pleasant, classic Sauvignon Blanc aroma of with lots of grassy notes plus grapefruit and other assorted tropical fruits. It’s a nice start.
Tasting the wine reveals tons of juicy, fresh citrus flavors along with green apple and more tropical fruit. Slightly sweet and very fruity with a smooth mouthfeel and crisp acidity, this is very nicely done. It also has some continuing grassiness like the nose.
It ends with a long finish of lingering sweet fruit. Just as good as always despite the branding change!
