Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc - Nicely Done

By: Jon Thorsen Published: March 22, 2022 Last Updated: January 15, 2023

Checking out the latest vintage of this sub-$10 wine from Marlborough, the Aldi Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc.

Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc - Nicely Done

Single estate Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand.

The Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc is available exclusively at Aldi and sells for $8.99. It is imported by Mack & Schuhle Inc.

    From the bottle:

This Single Estate Sauvignon Blanc is made from selected grapes grown in the rich alluvial soils of New Zealand's famous Marlborough region. Marlborough, situated at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, is located in the rain shadow of the spectacular Kaikoura mountain range to the south and to the east. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean, with its cool and moderate temperatures offers the best conditions for fantastic Sauvignon Blancs. Enjoy this crisp, fresh and fruity white with a well-balanced acidity. It pairs well with summer salads, seafood and light vegetable dishes. Best served chilled.

    Bottled by Lismore Wines.
    12.5% Alcohol

The Exquisite Collection wines from Aldi tend to be quite nice. Whether it is the Exquisite Collection Malbec, the Exquisite Collection Chardonnay, the Exquisite Collection Provence Rosé or the previous vintages of this wine, we've always found them to deliver good value. Let's check out the latest vintage of this Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2021 Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc begins with a very pleasant, classic Sauvignon Blanc aroma of with lots of grassy and varied tropical fruit notes.

Tasting the wine reveals tons of juicy, fresh citrus flavors along with green apple and more tropical fruit. Slightly sweet and very fruity with a smooth and even slightly creamy mouthfeel plus crisp acidity, this is very nicely done.

It ends with a medium-long finish of lingering sweet fruit.

In a bit of a change with this vintage Aldi has begun referring to this wine as "Single Estate" rather than "Single Vineyard". My guess is that they are now including multiple vineyards from the same estate winery. Nevertheless, this latest vintage is just as good as always.
