Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc – Nicely Done

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: June 3, 2019

An excellent single vineyard Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc for less than $10 thanks to Aldi, the Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc.

Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc - Nicely Done

Single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand.

The Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc is available exclusively at Aldi and sells for $8.49. It is imported by Mack & Schuhle Inc.

From the bottle:

This single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is made from selected grapes grown in the rich alluvial soils of New Zealand’s famous Marlborough region. Marlborough, situated at the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, is located in the rain shadow of the spectacular Kaikoura mountain range to the south and to the east. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean, with its cool and moderate temperatures offers the best conditions for fantastic Sauvignon Blancs. Enjoy this crisp, fresh and fruity white with a well-balanced acidity. It pairs well with summer salads, seafood and light vegetable dishes. Best served chilled.

12.5% Alcohol

After how much we enjoyed the Exquisite Collection Malbec, we were quite excited to give another wine from this Aldi exclusive line a try.

The 2018 Exquisite Collection Sauvignon Blanc begins with a very pleasant, classic Sauvignon Blanc aroma of grass and lots of tropical fruit. Tasting the wine reveals tons of juicy, fresh citrus flavors plus green apple and more tropical fruit. Slightly sweet and very fruity with a smooth and even slightly creamy mouthfeel and crisp acidity, this is very nicely done. It ends with a medium-long finish of lingering sweet fruit.

The fact that it’s a single vineyard wine is rather amazing at this price point and it definitely shows in the glass.

If you’re a Sauvignon Blanc lover, Aldi is your place. This is the third excellent example we’ve highlighted from Aldi in just the last few weeks and everyone one of them is unique. There’s the grassy and darn good Dancing Flame from Chile, the impressive Leaf Plucker from South Africa that is fermented on the skins and aged in oak and now today’s single vineyard Marlborough beauty.
