The 2020 Exquisite Collection Cotes de Provence Rosé from Aldi begins with an enticing aroma of peach, strawberry and light floral touches.
Taking a sip reveals the wine to be dry but full of plenty of delicious fruit, although it doesn’t have quite the depth of flavor of the previous vintage. In the mouth it features similar flavors to the nose plus citrus and a little tropical fruit as well as a smooth and refreshing mouthfeel. Perhaps just a hint of garrigue floats under it all. Balanced and clean, this is a nice rosé.
A bit of tartness leads into the dry, medium-long finish. Overall, it costs $2 more than the previous vintage (which was a Bulk Buy) and doesn’t taste quite as good, but it’s still good enough to be recommended. We tasted it side by side with the Kirkland Signature Provence Rosé and that was clearly the better wine.
