Tannat is uniquely suited to the long, hot summers of Texas. With care and experience, it produced balanced, full-bodied red wines with power, structure, and complexity. Spicy aromas of warm sage and minerals lead to layers of juicy black raspberry, licorice, cocoa, and vanilla.

The 2017 Bending Branch Tannat begins with a very pleasing aroma of ripe, dark berry fruit and violets plus a little vanilla and spice.

The wine tastes rich, juicy and delicious. This is a really nice, balanced example of this fantastic big, bold, full-bodied variety. It’s a bit tannic as you would expect but really just downright good. It features great depth of flavor, well-integrated spice notes and even a bit of minerality under the fruit.

It ends dry, very long, juicy and savory. This is one of my favorite grapes and this example from Texas does the variety proud! I love it.
