From the bottle:
The Cannonball. It is the perfect symbol of freedom. Legs tucked beneath you, soaring through the air. That uninhibited spirit is the soul of Cannonball Wines. We have put that feeling in a bottle with our Merlot. Full-bodied, with juicy flavors of raspberry, ripe plum and a hint of vanilla and spice, this wine is elegant on the palate with a super smooth finish. We hope it makes your cheeks hurt from smiling.

The 2020 Cannonball California Merlot begins with pleasing aromas of plum, spice, vanilla, mint, anise and more.
Taking a sip reveals a smooth, tasty and uncomplicated easy-drinker that you can’t help but jump right in and enjoy. When you do, you’ll find plenty of dark, rich, ripe, jammy and juicy fruit along with lots of vanilla and chocolate but what I really appreciate is that it’s not sweet at all with just 2.7 g/L of residual sugar.
It ends dry and long with lasting vanilla, chocolate and licorice-soaked dark, ripe fruit. We hadn’t had the chance to enjoy this wine since the 2014 vintage and it’s still a great buy.
