Another excellent choice for the Bourbon Barrel crowd, the Cigar Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon from Cosentino Winery.
92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Sirah, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Syrah from Hames Valley (50%), Monterey County (25%) and Alexander Valley (5%), California. When we say Cigar is a wine without match, we mean there’s no other wine like this big, bold Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon designed with eye catching packaging and a unique label. It is a powerful Cab that exudes confidence and elegance while balancing rich, ripe fruit. Cigar Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon is the perfect wine for a steak dinner, BBQ or just a Tuesday night out with the guys.
The 2016 Cigar Bourbon Barrel-Aged Cabernet Sauvignon from Cosentino Winery begins with a pleasing, bourbon filled aroma of blackberry and black cherry along with lots of wonderful baking spice, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, caramel and more. Taking a sip reveals a smooth and tasty wine. I love that it’s not sweet but still has plenty of rich, dark fruit. The bourbon barrels add plenty of intrigue – caramel, vanilla, coffee all those notes from the nose, but none of them are overpowering and they all blend together seamlessly with the fruit. This is very well done. It ends dry and long with lots of lingering flavors.
