Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec – Fresh and Juicy

By: Jon Thorsen Last Updated: January 15, 2020

Well-made and priced right, the Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec made with organic grapes.

Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec – Fresh and Juicy

85% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 5% Syrah (all organically grown) from estate vineyards at an altitude of 4000ft in Gualtallary Valley, Tupungato, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is aged in French oak for 10 months and has 4.3 g/L of residual sugar. It is also vegan friendly.

Sample submitted for review. The Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec has an SRP of $18 and is available for as low as $12. Imported by WISD LLC.

From the bottle:

Domaine Bousquet combines the know-how of French winemaking with Argentina’s exceptional climate and terroir. The vineyard is located at the foothills of the Andes, at 1200 m.a.s.l. Its thermal amplitude contributes to obtaining fully ripened grapes with an excellent acidity. The grapes are hand-picked and the vineyard is certified organic. Aged 10 months in French oak.

This elegant wine is well balanced with rich aromas and expressions of pure fruit, tones of raspberry, blackcurrant, cassis, and fig flavors flowing over notes of chocolate and tobacco. Good acidity and long finish, ideal with red meats and pasta dishes.

14.5% Alcohol

The 2018 Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec begins with pleasing aromas of dark berry fruit with a bit of an earthy, leathery streak as well as some cola and licorice. This wine is a smooth and juicy berry explosion in the mouth! Medium-bodied with good balance, good acidity and lots of fresh flavors this is a well-made Malbec with the kind of depth of flavor that you don’t find in a lot of varieties at this price point. The cola, licorice and earthiness from the nose also return under the fruit and lead into dry, long finish.
