Last Updated on July 8, 2025

A smooth, dry and dusty blend from high altitude vines, the Dona Paula Altitude Series 1350. Available at Costco.

Dona Paula Altitude Series 1350 - A Lofty Blend

50% Cabernet Franc, 45% Malbec and 5% Casavecchia from two vineyard blocks at 1,350 meters (4,430 feet) above sea level in the Alluvia Vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina. The wine is aged in 20% new French oak for 16 months and has just 1.8 g/L of residual sugar.

The Dona Paula Altitude Series 1350 has an SRP of $25 but we found it at Costco for $17.99. There don’t appear to be many other sellers but you can check for those here. It is imported by Prestige Beverage Group.

From the bottle:

Dona Paula 1350 is 50% Cabernet Franc, 45% Malbec and 5% Casavecchia from our Alluvia Vineyard, located at 4,430 ft (1,350 meters) above sea level. This wine is characterized by its complex aromas, especially those of spices and berries. In the mouth there are strong tannins and quite a long finish.

14.5% Alcohol

The 2018 Dona Paula Altitude Series 1350 opens with pleasing aromas of plum and wild berry with hints of mint, vanilla, smoke, graphite and more.

To be honest, I wasn’t too sure about this one at first sip as it needs a lot of time to open up but once it does it is quite good. Featuring similar flavors to the nose, the fruit is tart and juicy in the mouth. It also has a smooth mouthfeel and plenty of acidity.

The very best part; however, is the dry, dusty, minerally and long finish. Malbec and Cabernet Franc blends are usually quite reliable and this one certainly delivers.
