Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Blanc – Fresh and Smooth

By: Jon Thorsen Published: January 25, 2020 Last Updated: October 1, 2021

Why should the Rhone red wines get all the love? The Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Blanc.

Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Blanc – Fresh and Smooth

A blend of Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier from Cairanne and Jonquieres in the Rhone Valley of France. The wine is fermented in stainless steel.

Sample submitted for review. The wine has an SRP of $14 and is available for as low as $10. Imported by Vineyard Brands.

    From the bottle:

The Perrin Family has owned Chateau de Beaucastel since 1909. Over the past five generations, the family has acquired not only great vineyards in the very best terroirs of the Southern Rhone Valley, but also a great understanding of these terroirs. Since the 1970s, Perrin Reserve is renowned as one the very best Rhone values. Those vineyards are located on the fresh and light soils between Ouveze and Aigues rivers. This blend of white Rhone varietals is exclusively fermented in stainless steel, this wine shows elegance and complexity, along with exotic aromas. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat, Asian food as well as all types of cheeses. Serve at 50F.

    13% Alcohol

The 2018 Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Blanc begins with a pleasing aroma of pear, peach and white flowers along with a little salty minerality and touches of dried herbs. The wine tastes soft, round and smooth in the mouth and is quite easy to drink. It features similar flavors to the nose plus apple, lime and a little tropical fruit as well. On the mid-palate, the hints of sea salt minerality from the nose come back and lead into the dry, satisfying finish.
