Fantini Farnese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo - Pleasant and Easy

By: Jon Thorsen Published: December 22, 2016 Last Updated: May 28, 2021

Fantini Farnese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo - Pleasant and EasyThe deceptively simple and extremely charming Fantini Farnese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.

100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from 10-20 year old vines in the vineyards of Ortona, San Salvo, Pollutri and other small farms in Abruzzo, Italy. The wine does not undergo any oak aging.

The Fantini Farnese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has an SRP of $15. Imported by Empson USA.

    From the bottle:

Our Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is grown and bottled in this wonderful Southern Italian region between the Appennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. Benefiting from the unique soil and temperature excursions, this grape produces concentrated wines that age beautifully. Dry, with soft tannins, it's a perfect companion to pasta dishes, red meat or seasoned cheeses. An amazing value, it will make you fall in love with Abruzzi. Salute!

    13% Alcohol

The 2015 Fantini Farnese Montepulciano d'Abruzzo begins with a very pleasing aroma of red and black cherry plus other ripe red berries. The wine tastes soft, fruity and easy to drink. At first blush it seems somewhat simple, but after a few sips of this extremely tasty wine you quickly come to appreciate its charms. Maraschino cherries, plums and a touch of spice stand out in this nicely balanced, medium-bodied wine. It ends dry with good length. This is a great pick to pair with pasta in red sauce.
