Gouleyant Malbec – A Simply Satisfying Sipper

By: Jon Thorsen Published: February 12, 2021 Last Updated: February 3, 2023

A simple and tasty wine from the birthplace of Malbec, the Gouleyant Malbec by Georges Vigouroux.

Gouleyant Malbec – A Simply Satisfying Sipper

100% Malbec from Cahors in the southwest of France.

Sample submitted for review. The Gouleyant Malbec has an SRP of $16 and is available for as low as $10. It is imported by Kindred Vines.

    From the bottle:

Since 1887, over four generations, our family strives with passion to get the perfect balance between the Terroir & the Malbec grape. Nowadays, driven by our history and our know-how, we are offering you great Malbecs for unique experiences.
    - Bertrand-Gabriel Vigouroux, Winemaker in Cahors

Gourmand, delicate and seductive, a must try Malbec from Cahors. The intense color is appealing, the nose reveals nice aromas of black fruits and spices. "Gouleyant" means easy to drink in French, this wine can be found in a lot of "bistrots" in France, it will be perfect served with red meats, cheeses and all types of appetizers! Best enjoyed at 65F.

    14.5% Alcohol

The 2018 Gouleyant Malbec begins with an inviting blackberry and other ripe, dark fruit aromas along with a little licorice. It's a bit funky when first popped open but it comes around nicely.

Tasting reveals that it is indeed true to its name - Le Gouleyant means easy to drink in French. It needs some time to open up in the glass but when it does you'll find a soft and smooth wine that is a bit tannic and features plenty of dark fruit with just a little bit of earthiness underneath.

This simple and tasty wine ends dry and long.
