The 2017 Herdade de São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada Red from Casa Relvas opens with an attractive aroma of mostly dark, ripe fruit (black cherry, blackberry, plum and strawberry) along with a bit of banana. It also some nice touches of spice, vanilla and mint.
The wine is smooth and quite tasty in the mouth with similar flavors to the nose. Featuring firm tannins, concentrated fruit, well integrated spice, great structure, good complexity and good balance, this one has it all.
It ends dry, long and slightly chewy. This is a great wine at this price and also a great representation of the value Portugal can bring.
