Just good enough for the equivalent of $5 per bottle? We review La Bellevie de Boise Red 3L Box Wine to find out.
A red blend of unspecified varieties from France.
Today’s wine comes from Castel Freres, a large French wine trading business that claims to be the largest in France and third largest in the world. They no doubt have a plethora of sources they can pull from to make this very inexpensive wine.
Unfortunately they don’t release any information at all on what it contains or how it is made. Let’s check it out.
We found this 3 liter box retailing for $20, which is the equivalent of $5 per regular 750ml bottle. 750ml bottles are available for as low as $6-$8. It is imported by Saranty Imports.
From the winery:
La Bellevie de Boise Red
This medium-bodied red wine displays aromas of plum, blackberry, and black cherry. A great, easy-drinking French table wine that pairs well with all types of food.

The La Bellevie de Boise Red 3L Box Wine begins with a very simple but attractive aroma of ripe plum and berry fruit plus a touch of vanilla.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be smooth, soft and easy with just a touch of sweetness and similar flavors to the nose. Light to medium-bodied, it has some touches of spice although not much depth, especially at first. Let it breathe a bit in your glass and it does get a little better. It’s simple but it works for the price.
It ends dry with decent length and even a bit of grippiness. With just a Taste Rating of 6, this is not an impressive wine by any means, but it is just good enough given the very low price. That said, you can probably find some better options on our Box Wine list.
