Locations I Italian Red Wine - A Tour of Italy In One Bottle

By: Jon Thorsen Published: March 28, 2018 Last Updated: August 15, 2022

As usual from Dave Phinney, this is an extremely tasty and unique blend.

Locations I Italian Red Wine - A Tour of Italy In One Bottle

A blend of Negroamaro and Nero d'Avola from the Southern region of Puglia and Barbera from the Northern region of Piemonte in Italy. The wine was aged in barrels for 10 months.

Sample submitted for review. The Locations I Italian Red Wine has an SRP of $19 and can be found for as low as $13. Ready to buy? Check your local retailers. Imported by Locations Wine.

    From Locations Wines:

With over 2000 indigenous grape varieties to select and compose a blend, an exhaustive search was undertaken to pay homage to this historic region. Maintaining the integrity of the land was paramount while simultaneously considering the end result of a dynamic and innovative wine. Powerful and rich fruit from Puglia (Torricella and Manduria) serves as the base with a lively vein of acidity from Barbera (Alba) that stabilizes things in just the right way.

    14.5% Alcohol

The Locations I Italian Red Wine, this being the I-4 designation, begins with a wonderful aroma of black cherry, lots of spice and a bit of smoked meat. Tasting the wine reveals loads of different flavors intertwining beautifully in the mouth. Blackberry, black cherry, cola, licorice, black tea, dried herbs and more baking spice lead the way in this medium to full-bodied wine with good acidity. Streaks of minerality and earth lead into the dry, tart, cola-filled finish. Excellent!
