Champagne under $20, we review the Member’s Mark Private Reserve Didier Dumond Champagne Brut from Sam’s Club.
Sam’s Club doesn’t specify, but Champagne is usually made from one or more of the following grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It, of course, comes from the Champagne region of France. This sparkling wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and matures for a minimum of 15 months.
Unlike some of the other Member’s Mark wines at Sam’s Club there’s not a lot of info available on this one, so we did a little digging.
First off, it doesn’t actually appear that there is an actual person or winery named “Didier Dumond” as the name is simply a trademark of the importer, Mack & Schuhle.
The wine itself is elaborated by SAS Les Roches Blanches, a negociant and wine production company run by Nicolas Gueusquin Champagne. They have been making Champagne for over 20 years. 85% of their production is sold through European supermarkets. They do own about 10 hectares of vineyards throughout the Champagne region, but the bulk of their production seems to be from purchased grapes in the region.
And while the provenance of this wine is a bit unknown, it is still Champagne and of course, has to meet all the normal growing and production requirements of the region. Let’s check it out.
The Non-Vintage Member’s Mark Private Reserve Didier Dumond Champagne Brut is available exclusively at Sam’s Club and retails for $19.98.

Enjoy a celebration of Flavors with Member’s Mark Didier Dumond Brut Champagne. Aromas of hazelnut and toasted brioche are followed by hints of fresh-baked bread and delicate orchard fruits. Lively bubbles and citrus round out this well-balanced classic. If you enjoy sparkling wine, you know that Champagne, France is the place for the best quality bubbles. A combination of an ideal growing climate, the French method of production (Methode Champenoise), and hundreds of years of experience produce a French classic that earns the title of Champagne. With a price under $20, now you can celebrate more occasions without breaking the bank. Pairs well with fruits, cheeses, or shellfish.
12.5% Alcohol
The Member’s Mark Private Reserve Didier Dumond Champagne Brut opens with pleasing aromas of citrus, pears, apple, and a little fresh baked bread/pastry with a hint of a nutty note. It’s a good start.
The wine tastes crisp and delicious and is not too sweet. It also features plenty of acidity with lots of fine bubbles. This is great with food or as a palate cleanser.
It ends dry, crisp and long on the quite satisfying finish. While we generally find better value in other sparkling wine regions, this is a nice example of Champagne for the price.
The natural comparison for this one is of course the Kirkland Signature Champagne Brut and I would say this is similar.
