Another nice Cab find from Sam’s Club, we review the Member’s Mark Private Reserve Sallyvine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alexander Valley.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sallyvine Vineyard in Alexander Valley, California.
The wine is produced by PWP Wines, (Plata Wine Partners) who are primarily a private label producer.
The VP of winemaking at PWP is none other than Alison Crowe, a very familiar name for Costco buyers as she also makes a number of the Kirkland Signature bottlings. It appears the Sallyvine Vineyard may be one of PWP’s holdings.
The 2023 Member’s Mark Private Reserve Sallyvine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is available exclusively at Sam’s Club and retails for just $10.76.

The 2023 Member’s Mark Private Reserve Sallyvine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon opens with quite a pleasing aroma of blackberry, spice and licorice plus plenty of cedar and some other nice oaky notes. It’s a good start.
Tasting the medium-bodied wine reveals it to be smooth and balanced with similar flavors to the nose. This is very easy to drink. It could maybe use a bit more complexity but for under $11 a bottle, it is quite good.
It ends dry, smooth and long on the satisfying finish.
It wasn’t quite as good on day 2 after leaving it corked overnight on the counter, so I would take steps to preserve it if you don’t finish it on day 1.
