Famoso, also called Uva Rambela, is an indigenous variety from Romagna which has been rediscovered in the last ten years, after a period of abandonment. It tells the story of a variety and a territorial identity of which believes in its re-launch.
This wine has a soft yellow color and green highlights and a very intense sensory profile: it is considered an aromatic grape variety. Both nose and palate show floral aromas, like tilia, orange and jasmine flowers, as well as tropical and white fruits. It is intense and rich, with a fresh, clean and balanced acidity. The finish is long lasting and aromatic.

It’s always a treat to have a chance to taste a little known grape, especially when it is so affordable. And when we say this grape was almost extinct, we mean it. Apparently by the year 2000 it was down to just two rows of vines!
The 2018 Poderi dal Nespoli Famoso begins with a pleasing aroma of floral notes (honeysuckle and jasmine) plus a little citrus and melon.
Taking a sip reveals zesty fruit (citrus, peach and apricot mainly) tinged with a bit of honey. With good balance and good acidity this is quite tasty and a really nice summertime sipper of a wine. It ends with a clean, crisp, dry and long finish.
