Ravines Wine Cellars rests on a hillside overlooking glacier-carved Seneca lake in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State. Our cooling growing season, sloped vineyard sites and moderating effects of the deep lakes create ideal conditions for producing vibrant, balanced and food-friendly wines.
We are a small, family-owned winery dedicated to the craft of fine, classical winemaking, wines that express the unique qualities of the vineyard sites, the growing season, and the wine maker’s vision.
Ravines Cabernet Franc is beautifully balanced and expressive with aromas of ripe bramble fruit, baking spices, minerality and tannins softened during aging in French oak casks.

It’s been way too long since we’ve reviewed a wine from the Finger Lakes and while the natural inclination would be to feature a Riesling, today we’ve got a really lovely Cabernet Franc to tell you about.
The 2018 Ravines Cabernet Franc begins with aromas of red currant, black cherry, a little cranberry and a touch of mint and some other herbs on top of some olive and vegetal earthiness. It’s very nice and very much what you would expect from this variety.
The medium-bodied wine tastes smooth, structured and oh so tasty. Full of lovely fruit leaning more towards berry flavors in the mouth, it also has some excellent light touches of spice from the oak. Everything works together quite beautifully here to make a very drinkable wine with a good amount of complexity.
It ends very long, savory, and a bit herbaceous. It even has some minerality to it, I love it.
