Whenever I think of wine from New York I can't help but think of the old Pace Picante salsa commercial with the cowboys exclaiming, “That stuff is made in New York City!”
Wine may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of New York State but areas like the Finger Lakes, the Niagara area and even Long Island are producing some really great examples.
Riesling is at the forefront of this movement, but the region also makes some excellent red wines like Cabernet Franc and Bordeaux style red blends.
