From Trader Joe’s:
The Loire Valley, south of Paris and about in the middle of France, is known widely for its wine production— most notably, white wines. Sauvignon Blanc from the sub-region of Sancerre is perhaps this Valley’s most famous white. But while Sancerre may be the most well-known and prestigious white-wine provenance in the region, there’s another sub-region called Touraine that produces comparable whites. And Touraine is where Vignobles Lacheteau Sauvignon Blanc originates.
Vignobles Lacheteau Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is, indeed, composed of 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes, and is fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh flavor profile and vibrant character. It’s deeply aromatic, with bright notes of citrus and spring blossoms, tasters will note a pronounced, yet balanced, acidity that keeps the palate engaged with every scintillating sip. Drink it chilled, on its own, or enjoy a glass with a green salad with Goat Cheese and French Vinaigrette with Shallots. You may find it pairs surprisingly well with a grilled Sweet Italian Sausage, too.

We’ve reviewed several of the Vignobles Lacheteau Loire Valley wines available at Trader Joe’s and have been happy with them all. Most recently it was the Vignobles Lacheteau Chinon Cabernet Franc but before that it was three white wines. These include the Vignobles Lacheteau Vouvray, the Vignobles Lacheteau Pouilly Fumé and the Vignobles Lacheteau Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine Sur Lie.
Vignobles Lacheateau is a large negociant producer in France and at least for the wines they produce for Trader Joe’s they have concentrated on the Loire Valley, which is great for consumers as inexpensive, yet tasty, examples of these wines can be hard to find otherwise. Let’s check this one out.
The 2023 Vignobles Lacheteau Touraine Sauvignon Blanc opens with an inviting aroma of lemon and other citrus, plenty of grassy notes and some tropical fruit. It’s a nice start that is distinctly Sauvignon Blanc but I would have guessed it was from New Zealand because of all the grassy notes.
Tasting the wine reveals it to be similar in the mouth with a nice bit of richness on the juicy fruit and good acidity.
It ends dry, crisp, clean and juicy. This is hard not to like for just $6.99.
