Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley via Trader Joe's, the Vignobles Lacheteau Pouilly Fumé.
Sauvignon Blanc from Pouilly Fumé in the Loire Valley of France. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and does not spend any time in oak. It has just 1 g/L of residual sugar.
The Vignobles Lacheteau Pouilly Fume is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and retails for $15.99. It is imported by Plume Ridge.
Just like Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé is one of the more renowned wines from the Loire Valley and the prices typically show it. We were excited to find this one at just $15.99 especially since it came from the same producer as the excellent Lacheteau Vouvray that we previously reviewed.
Shiny yellow with zesty and rich aromas, this Sauvignon Blanc from Pouilly Fume is one of the most famous expressions of Sauvignon. It is a dry white wine with rich aromatic scents. Ideally served as an accompaniment to seafood, poultry and goat cheeses.

The 2019 Vignobles Lacheteau Pouilly Fumé opens with pleasing aromas of citrus, grapefruit and lemon zest.
Taking a sip reveals a pretty tasty, non-grassy Sauvignon Blanc. It tastes like it has a touch of sweetness/honey to it but it's just the rich, deep fruit flavors as this is a very dry wine at just 1 g/L of residual sugar. Fresh and with good acidity, it features similar flavors to the nose with a bit more tropical fruit on the palate.
It ends dry, crisp and with good length. This should go great with fish and other seafood.
