Another Trader Joe's find from a prestigious area of Bordeaux, but does it measure up? We review the Baron De Taste Reserve Margaux.
No details are given but given the Left Bank location this wine is likely a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon but could also contain Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Carmenère, Petit Verdot and/or Malbec. It comes from the Margaux region in Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, France.
For what it's worth, 2019 was rated an excellent vintage in this area. This wine also comes from the same negociant (Maison Ginestet) as the recently reviewed Trader Joe's Diamond Reserve Pauillac.
This wine is available exclusively at Trader Joe's and sells for $14.99. It is imported by Plume Ridge.
From the bottle:
Fine example of an approachable Margaux filled with elegance. Deep ruby red with aromas of ripe red fruits and floral notes. Dried red and black fruits on the palate along with smooth tannins and a balanced finish. Pair with mature cheese or roasted meat.

The 2019 Baron De Taste Reserve Margaux opens with aromas of dark fruit plus a little earthiness and a little oaky spice. It needs some time to open up, but it has quite a strong bouquet. There are also light secondary touches of tobacco, coffee, mint and more.
Tasting the wine reveals a smooth mouthfeel and flavors that are very similar to the nose with the dark fruit, a little earthiness and a little spice predominating. The secondary touches from the nose also present on the dry, long finish.
We actually found this wine to be at its best on day 2, which also moved it up to an 8 Taste Rating and an Overall Rating of Recommended Buy.
