Simple, sweet and refreshing. We review the Barton & Gustier Rosé d’Anjou Les Jardins de la Reine Rosé.
This rosé is made from 75% Grolleau and 25% Gamay and comes from the Rose d’Anjou appellation in the Loire Valley of France. Fermentation is stopped to leave residual sugar in the wine (and keep the alcohol low). While the winery doesn’t specify how much residual sugar remains we’re guessing it’s around 15 g/L. The wine is also vegan friendly.

The 2024 Barton & Gustier Rosé d’Anjou Les Jardins de la Reine Rosé begins with a pleasing and fruity aroma of strawberry and black cherry.
Tasting the wine reveals that yes there’s a bit of residual sugar, but it works wonderfully. It’s a bit simple but also nicely sweet and highly refreshing. It features those same strawberry and black cherry notes as the nose but they are juicy in the mouth.
It ends off-dry and juicy on the satisfying finish.
