A crazy Costco price on an easy to drink wine with plenty of complexity, we review the Bodegas Manzanos 111 Red Blend.
85% Garnacha and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tierra Estella in Navarra, Spain. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 6 months.
Another day, another great Spanish wine at an unbelievable Costco price! According to Wine Enthusiast, when they gave their 92 point rating of this wine, it has an SRP of $26. Costco, on the other hand, prices it at just $5.99! While the SRP may be questionable (on imports it’s really just whatever the importer says), even Total Wine sells this for twice the Costco price.
From the winery:
2023 Bodegas Manzanos 111 Red Blend
VINEYARDS: The grapes for this wine come from the area of Tierra Estella. It covers soils developed on various types of relief and different materials with a climate marked by the influence of the Urbasa and Andía mountain ranges.
WINEMAKING: The grapes are harvested between the last week of September and the first weeks of October, taking advantage of the cool mornings to preserve the aromas and keep the grapes in perfect condition. Once in the winery, after alcoholic fermentation, part of the wine spends a short period in barrels.
Visual: Strawberry red of medium intensity, clean and bright
Nose: The nose is notable for its aromas of black fruit, ripe fruit, violets and certain notes of vanilla and chocolate from its time in oak barrels.
Taste: The palate is elegant and balanced.
Paring: Perfect with red meats, cured cheeses and roasts
Varieties: Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ageing: 6 months. French oak barrelsBottled by Bodegas Manzanos

The 2023 Bodegas Manzanos 111 Red Blend opens with a pleasing aroma of dark strawberry, black cherry and plum fruit plus a little spice and touches of cedar and red licorice. It’s a very harmonious start, especially for just 6 bucks!
Tasting the wine reveals similar flavors to the nose with juicy fruit and good acidity. It’s balanced and quite easy to drink but also has a good amount of complexity too (a rare combo).
It ends dry, long and grippy with lasting spicy fruit. We’ve been fans of the wines from Navarra for years and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint.
