100% Garnacha in rosé form, we review the Borsao Seleccion Rosé.
100% Garnacha from small parcels at altitudes of 1,200 to 2,400 feet in Tabuenca, Borja and Pozuelo in the Campo de Borja DO in Aragon, Spain. The juice spends just 1-3 hours on the skins and then is fermented in stainless steel tanks. The resulting rosé has just 1 g/L of residual sugar.
Sample submitted for review. The Borsao Seleccion Rosé has an SRP of $10 and is available for as low as $7. It is imported by Winebow Inc.
From the bottle:
It is only fitting that Bodegas Borsao, home to the best Garnacha vineyards in Aragon, makes their rosé from these wonderful grapes as well. The first thing you notice about this wine is it’s luminescent color which evokes images of sun drenched strawberries. Bright red fruit aromas and delicate spice flavors fill the palate, making this the perfect wine as an aperitif or light meal.

The 2021 Borsao Seleccion Rosé opens with lots of berry aromas on the nose along with some citrus and watermelon and even a touch of tomato plant.
Taking a sip reveals a crisp, bone dry and tasty wine. This balanced wine features good depth on the rich fruit that is mostly similar to the nose. It still has the berry notes in the mouth but perhaps a bit more citrus plus some green apple too. I love that it’s so low in sugar yet still so flavorful.
It ends with a dry, long, lip-smacking and refreshing finish.
